Prelim to Pro Returns to Plantation Field International Horse Trials

Updated: Sep 21, 2019

The Eventing Riders Association of North America is proud to bring the Prelim to Pro to Plantation Field International Horse Trials for the sixth year running. The program bridges education, horsemanship and talent for Under 25 riders in the CCI2*-S that are ERA of NA members. Participants are grouped into teams of four to five riders and scores are cumulated throughout the weekend. This unique opportunity focuses on building a team experience prior to NAJYRC or act as an alternative for individuals who may have aged out.

In past years, juniors have broadened their knowledge on saddle fitting, nutrition, media etiquette and equine business opportunities. Eventing becomes a lifestyle for many, and Prelim to Pro recognizes the importance of establishing a well-rounded horseman/woman. This year, participants will receive a reference book filled with tips from Vice-President of Furlong’s Healthy Horse, Adam Furlong and personalized advice from top professionals in the sport.

In addition to providing key training tips and mentorship, the Individual winner will have the opportunity to train with Olympic Gold medalist Leslie Law and to star on one of Eventer’s favorite podcast, Major League Eventing. Once again, this gives the participants exposure and media experience in the sport.

Plantation Field International will host the Prelim to Pro on the East coast and for the first time ever, the program will expand to the West Coast.. Another new partnership developing in 2019 is with Carry on Connections, a personalized public relations company developed by Junior Program manager Karri Bellamy. The ERA of NA is looking forward to these new relationships and increasing the impact the program has on the sport.

We are happy to announce our returning sponsors Furlong’s Healthy Horse and Kulak Equestrian. Their commitment is an essential part of supporting the future of Eventing.

The ERA of NA Prelim to Pro will kick off September 19th, 2019 at Plantation Field International Horse Trials and the award ceremony will follow the CCI2* prize giving. For live coverage and more information about the program, tune in with ERA of NA on Instagram and Facebook
